Hooked on growing plants since the age of eight, Bob Purnell has been creating gardens professionally, and sharing his infectious enthusiasm for all things green, for more than twenty-five years. He has a particular passion for growing plants in small spaces, especially in containers. His own garden in Somerset is a festival of plants in pots of every shape, size and material imaginable.
Bob has designed gardens all over the UK and also in France and Taiwan, his speciality being small urban gardens. He writes for magazines including Gardens Illustrated, BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine, Garden Answers and Which? Gardening. He has also worked on various television gardening programmes, most notably Garden Club, Channel 4’s longest-running and most popular garden offering. Previous books include the hugely successful Crops in Pots (Hamlyn, 2007), which has been translated into several languages, including French, German, Spanish and Greek, and has sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide.
